CONSUMER ADVISORY: OK OK KAISER PRETZELS MAY CONTAIN MELAMINE<\/strong><\/p>\n

OTTAWA, October 1, 2008 – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Dai Jung Distributing are advising people not to consume the OK OK Kaiser pretzels described below. These products are being recalled due to a positive test result for melamine conducted by the CFIA.<\/p>\n

The following OK OK brand products are affected by this recall:<\/p>\n

There are no lot codes associated with these products.<\/p>\n

These products have been distributed in Ontario.<\/p>\n

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.<\/p>\n

Although the health risk associated with these products is considered to be low, the advisory is being issued as a result of the Government of Canada’s ongoing investigation into milk and milk-derived products sourced in\/from China that may have been distributed in Canada.<\/p>\n

The importer, Dai Jung Distributing, Scarborough, Ontario, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace.<\/p>\n

The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.<\/p>\n

Melamine is a chemical compound used in a number of commercial and industrial applications. Canada does not allow its use as a food ingredient.<\/p>\n
