New arrest made in kidnapping, death of Tony Han<\/strong><\/p>\n Published On Tue Jul 26 2011<\/p>\n Zoe McKnight Staff Reporter <\/p>\n Peel police have arrested a teenager who they say may have been the getaway driver in the kidnapping of real estate agent Tony Han, who went missing and died in January. <\/p>\n The teen, who was arrested and charged Tuesday, is allegedly involved in the death of Han and the disappearance of Johnny Fei, whose million-dollar Mississauga home Han was trying to sell. <\/p>\n Fei was held for ransom and later released, sources told the Toronto Star, whereas Han, 44, died of a heart attack while in the hands of his captors. Human remains belonging to Han were found buried in a garbage bag in the basement of a Markham home this month.<\/p>\n On July 15, Peel police released a photo of a man they said may have driven the car used to abduct Fei and Han. Using information from the public, police arrested that suspect this week. The other man in the police photo, known as Wei Guo Wu, is still at large. <\/p>\n Several others have also been arrested in connection to the case \u2014 two for kidnapping, two others for kidnapping, manslaughter and aggravated assault, and still two others who have been arrested over the past six months but who cannot be identified because of a court-ordered publication ban. <\/p>\n Wei Xin Huang, a 19 year-old Markham resident, was arrested Tuesday and charged with two counts of kidnapping, as well as one count each of aggravated assault and manslaughter. The investigation determined that the two men had been kidnapped. <\/p>\n On July 15, 2011, investigators released a picture of a suspect they were trying to identify, and whom they believed was responsible for driving a vehicle involved in the kidnapping. Investigators subsequently received information from the public and that led to the arrest of the suspect. <\/p>\n The suspect, Wei Xin HUANG, a 29 year-old resident of Markham, was arrested on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, and charged with two counts of Kidnapping with the Intent to Hold for Ransom, as well as one count of Aggravated Assault and one count of Manslaughter. \nPeel Regional Police say with help from the public, they arrested a man earlier today wanted in connection with the kidnapping-for-ransom of real estate agent Tony Han, along with another man, Jun Fei, back on Jan. 20. The pair were taken from a 15-room mansion on Featherston Dr. near University of Toronto Mississauga.
\nInvestigators received information from the public after releasing a picture on July 15 of a suspect they believed was responsible for driving a vehicle involved in the kidnapping.
\nWei Xin Huang, 19, of Markham has been charged with two counts of kidnapping with the intent to hold for ransom, aggravated assault and manslaughter.
\nHe’ll appear in Brampton court tomorrow for a bail hearing.
\nHan, 44, who lived in North York and was an agent with Home Life\/Landmark Realty’s Markham office, had been trying to sell the Featherston Dr. home for several months.
\nFei, 40, is the administrator of a numbered company that owns the estate, worth nearly $2.4 million. He was found alive and with some injuries about a week after the abduction. Court sources say Fei’s captors pistol-whipped and beat him using a hammer before finally releasing him.
\nPolice say Fei was the target of the kidnapping and that Han may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Officers say a ransom was paid out by Fei’s family.
\nPolice say the human remains found in the basement of a Markham home on July 12 are those of Han.
\nHomicide detectives aren\u2019t releasing the cause of death from an autopsy, but well-placed sources say Han died of a heart attack, likely in the early stages of the kidnapping.
\nInvestigators continue to search for an eighth suspect, Wei Guo Wu. A warrant for his arrest has been issued.
\nWu is described as male, Asian, 5-foot-7, 170 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes.
